I’ve put off and procrastinated blogging these images for all kinds of reasons. I didn’t take as many photos as I wish I had, considering my dang camera made the nine day trek to the top of the mountain with me. But, looking back on my memories (the photographs i do have, my journal, and my mental notes) floods me with emotions and immediately transports me back to the basic, but vastly important lessons I learned on being present, taking one step at a time, growing in patience, and receiving each breath as a gift. This earth is a wild masterpiece, and to behold the glory of creation will always be reason enough to keep walking forward into whatever risk or mystery lies ahead. I summited Mt. Kilimanjaro on January 20, 2017 with thirteen other INCREDIBLE women to raise over $300,000 for the Africa New Life Dream Medical Center in Rwanda. Thank you again to those of you who supported our climb, wrote me letters, trained with me, or let me know you were cheering big. I’m so very grateful.

I’m slowly learning how to straddle the tension that comes with understanding that I am tough and tender, brave and afraid, strong and struggling– all of these things, all of the time. I’m working on letting go of having to be one or the other and embracing the wholeness of wholeheartedness.
